Volume 3, Fall 1997

To be unbound is to be free. And freedom is glorious. There is glory in realization, glory in awakening consciousness, and glory in new-found ideas. But glory comes with a price, a price which can sometimes be extraordinarily high. Many are unwilling to pay. They cower in their dark worlds, shackled to their narrow beliefs and minor, irritating annoyances until they become breathtakingly dependent upon them, until they can no longer function without them. Any suggestion of something other than their small thoughts sends an icy shiver through them, and they shrink back into the confinement of their minds.

But it is those who deviate, those who face the light, those who are unafraid, who gain the glory. And once gained, it is fiercely protected and championed because it is worth the pain and the risk. Summoning the courage to pursue freedom is perhaps the hardest part of the task. It is so much simpler to conform, so much easier to blend in, so much more comfortable to accept what society dictates. It is almost a lullaby, hushing us into obscurity. But obscurity is for the meek, mediocrity for the timid. New heights are for the bold, excellence is for those among us who dare to deviate from the same worn, tired path. Freedom is loud, raucous. It sings, dances, and celebrates the wonderous variety filling our world.

Exploring freedom is a journey few risk, yet many long for. They pine away their lives, wishing. Always wishing.

Explore UNBOUND and long no more.
